A very simple snack apt for any festive season and if there is no event to be particular then it can become a crunchy teatime savoury snack. Its called ring murukku recipe in TamailNadu and chegodilu in AndraPradesh the recipe is the same. But the recipe differs in Maharashtra as kadboli and in karnataka its called kodubale and the ingredients are for these two recipes are different with same ring shape. more. so you can sprinkle and add to bring it to consistency if the dough becomes dry. When frying the ring murukku the flame should be nicely hot then you must adjust the flame after that so that the insides also are cooked well. I have used butter to make the dough you can even use ghee or oil. INGREDIENTS:

Rice flour – 1 cup
Moong dal – 11/2 tbsp
Cumin seeds/jeera – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
Chilli powder – 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Sesame seeds/ellu – 1 tsp
Water to make dough – 1 cup
Oil /buttter- 3/4 tbsp
Oil to fry

METHOD:

1.Keep every ingredient ready and soak moong dal for 30 minutes.
2.Then drain it keep a vessel with one cup of water when its boiling add dal followed by chilli powder,salt asafoetida,cumin, sesame seeds and butter.
3.Let it boil then add the flour little at a time and continue stirring.
4.Switch off the stove and close the lid wait for 5 minutes.

5.Open lid and transfer to another bowl and start to make the dough to one mass.
6.Pinch of small portions of dough roll it like thread join the ends to form a ring shape in the same way make use of all the dough.

7.When rings are ready keep a kadai with oil when its nicely hot add the rings and fry till golden and crisp.
8.Adjust the flame then and there so that the sides also cooks well.
10.Take out in a tissue and store in an airtight container.

Notes

The flame should not be too high that will change the colour but will not cook.
Some rice flour may take little more water so you can sprinkle little at a time to bring back to the correct consistency.
I have used butter you can use oil or even ghee to make the dough.
