cabbage kootu with moong dal  /muttaikos(e)kootu

cabbage kootu with moong dal /muttaikos(e)kootu Sambar, kootu, karakulambu, morkulambu are the iconic main items in a TamilNadu lunch menu and in this special spread of tongue tickling dishes Kootu has a very special place.I love moong dhal specially for its nutty taste and love to have it in any form but particularly the paruppu payasam made with this yellowy goodness is in top of my lists! these dhals are too expressive in terms of quality as well as nutrition.cabbage kootu with moong dal /muttaikos(e)kootukootu is made by combining vegetables with dhal and a special addition of ground coconut mixture always made as a semisolid kind of gravy unlike paruppu sambar. For quick cooking and when Iam in a hurry I grate it  along with the cooked dhal !it’s so easy and cooks quickly with no compromise in taste. But as i always say its up to you if you don’t like it to be grated chop and add but the taste remains the same.

Notes

I have added grated cabbage for quick cooking but usually they add cut cabbages.
Either way you can do if you donot like adding grated one.
Adding cococnut oil gives overall flavour to the dish.
I have not added turmeric powder but you can add if you wish.
After adding the ground mixture don't boil the kootu too long.
