ragi simili / simili urundai/ ragi peanut sesame(ellu) balls

Ragi simil is nutritiously dense traditional sweet snack that is rich in vitamin E ,Iron, protein, fibre and calcium. At the same time tastes delicious. Here in our place we call it as elluchi in kannada. Really don’t know why they call it as simili. But sure I have tasted it in the hands of my grandmother made using Ulakkai which tastes totally different and delicious. Few would have tasted it while growing up but many would have forgotten or even missed to have this wonderful sweet. Long time have not tasted this Now tried hands on this relished with all the old memories. Panai vellam is a must for this but if you don’t have stock just use normal vellum. Same way black sesame seeds are the best but you can substitute

it with white ones if you don’t like black ellu. Combination of ragi, ellu and peanuts is a rare combo with invisible benefits. Each home have their own way of making this authentic sweet. Some steam cook the maavu(flour) then proceed with the steps as usual but I love to make it as roti then proceed. Whatever may be the way its not only delicious. Its  healthy that you must give it to your family at least once in a month. Don’t miss to try this ragi simili sweet if you have not tried till now.
