This thayir idli is a perfect healthy summer snack time alternative. Many would have had sambar idli regularly totally in contrast variation is this thayir idli. Its very easy to make just gets ready in a jiffy if you have all ingredients ready. I love to make it with mini idlis but if you have left over idli’s thats also fine. For me the curd idli’s should be little spicy so have added extra chillies if you don’t want you can leave it. Got the recipe from my favourite food expert

Revathi shanmugam mam published in one of the popular magazines. Grinding part is most important it gives the texture ,creaminess and taste to the whole dish in addition to curd. Chilli powder and cumin powder can be added finally to bring extra flavour and kick. The curd we add should not be sour make sure you have nice fresh curd. Instead of oma podi you can add mixture or even kara boondi anything you add makes the whole dish interesting. This thayir idli is a very easy recipe to try at home so do try this for sure.

INGREDIENTS:

Steamed mini idlis – 1 cup
Curd – 1 cup(approximate)
Salt to taste
Some oma podi
For tadka:
Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida – 1/4 tsp
Some curry leaves
Oil or ghee – 1 tsp
To grind:
Cashewnuts – 2 tsp
Grated coconut – 1 tbsp
Green chillies – 2
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
Milk – 1/4 cup(optional)

METHOD:

1.Steam idlis with help of mini idli maker and keep them ready and let it cool.
2.For grinding grind cashews,coconut, green chillies and jeera with milk and make a smooth paste.
3.In a bowl beat curds nicely with needed salt add the ground paste to this and mix well and mix idli’s.

4.In-between make tadka by heating oil with mustard to splutter, then add hing and some curry leaves.
5.Add this to the curd idli’s and mix well, serve.

Notes

Chilli powder, cumin powder can be garnished finally but its optional.
Add green chillies according to your spiciness.
Curd should not be sour and amount of curd differs according to your need.
