This vazhakkai chips recipe will become a great addictive snack or a side dish to any lunch menu once you start making it. Its very easy to make and tastes totally great. Bunch of garden fresh raw bananas were sitting in my fridge and thats when I got an idea to make this vazhakkai chips. Its a simple recipe but some few points you have to note to get a good chips each time. To get a beautiful golden colour I have added turmeric powder. The chips while frying should be in medium high flame to get crispy chips. Make sure you slice the chips thin to get beautiful wafer’y texture.  I have also done vazhakkai fry in my blog check here. are not able to slice the chips directly into the oil then slice them separately and add it to oil. But here the chips may cling together so be careful by separating the chips while cooking. Do try my nedhram chips ,pazham pori and sakara varati upperi here in my blog. I personally don’t like pepper powder for this chips may be you can sprinkle some chilli powder it will be so tasty and its also optional. Do try this vazhakkai chips recipe and enjoy.

INGREDIENTS:

Vazhakkai /Raw banana – 14
Turmeric powder – 1 tbsp
Oil to fry
Salt – 1 tbsp or as per need
Chilli powder to sprinkle(optional)

 

METHOD:

1.Wash raw banana wipe the water peel the skin as soon you peel the skin put it in a basin filled with water till use.
2.Now mix turmeric and needed salt with water stir well and keep ready.
3.Heat up a kadai with oil when its hot slice off the raw banana chips directly over the oil with a help of mandoline slicer.

4.Before that you have to wipe off the peeled banana with a towel then slice over the oil.
5.After 2 minutes sprinkle the turmeric salt mixture with help of a spoon.

6.Keep the flame in medium high fry till crisp without change in colour and transfer to a tissue.
7.Repeat the rest in the same way.
8.Store it in an airtight container.
9.If you like you can sprinkle chilli powder after taking out from the oil

  • Turmeric powder - 3-4 tsp

  • salt to taste

Notes

  • I usually slice down the chips directly in oil but if you are a beginner you can slice them separately and then add it to oil and fry.
  • See to that the chips do not stick to each other when frying in oil.
  • If you like you can sprinkle chilli powder after taking out from the oil when still hot.
  • Temperature when frying in oil should be correct to get perfect chips each time.
