Maida burfi is a delicious and popular sweet available at all the petty stores. Especially 90’s kids will have this nostalgic feeling & its so special that the taste never expire. Its popularly called as Halkova or maavu sweet. This maida barfi is a quick and easy-to-make sweet treat that can often be prepared without any complicated ingredients. Usually for this the combination of maida, ghee & sugar is the basic but I add cardamom powder & also milk powder for enhanced taste. If desired, garnish with chopped nuts like almonds or pistachios, pressing them gently into the burfi mixture. But, its not at all needed just make this sweet as given melt in mouth kind of excellent tasting sweet will be all ready.
Always make this entire procedure of roasting maida ghee in low flame other wise it burns easily. Your entire recipe will become a waste. Mainly you have to roast the maida nicely so the end result you get will be exact & delicious. Do try this Maida burfi for sure you will definitely love it.

Maida burfi /Halkova / Halkova Burfi / 90’s kids Barfi Sweet Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
ALL PUPOSE FLOUR /MAIDA – 1 CUP /140 GM
GRANULATED SUGAR(TO BE POWDERED) – 3/4 CUP/150 GM
CARDAMOM POWDER – 11/2 TSP
MILK POWDER – 1/4 CUP/30 GM
GHEE – 1/2 CUP /100 GM
METHOD:
1.Grease a suitable tray or plate with ghee.
2.Here I have lined it with parchment for easy removal of the sweet after setting.
3.Now powder 3/4 cup of granulated sugar to a powder & keep ready.
4.Then heat a pan with ghee when its mildly hot add maida to it & stir.
5.Keep on stirring at low flame otherwise it will burn.
6.At one stage the colour changes slightly & nice aroma is released.
7.You can see the ghee oozing out & it loosens.
8.Now take out in a broad vessel to cool it completely.
9.When it cools add cardamom powder, sugar powder in batches along with milk powder.
10.Mix it nicely it will combine & will come together.
11.Transfer this to the greased tray and level it to become even.
12.You can leave it to rest for 20 -25 minutes then cut to suitable shapes.
13.Remove the pieces store it in airtight container & enjoy.
14.Soft melt in mouth 90’s kids sweet it all ready.

Notes
- Use a sharp knife to cut it into desired shapes. You can cut them into squares, diamonds, or rectangles.
- Make sure to stir continuously to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan and get burnt.
- Roast the flour nicely to get that right texture & taste.
- You can add more sugar if you need but the given amount will be apt.
