INGREDIENTS:
Karuppu kavuni arisi /black rice – 1 cup
Jaggery /vellam – 3/4 cup powdered
Cardamom powder – 11/2 tsp
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Grated fresh coconut – 1 cup
METHOD:
1.Wash and soak black rice for 4 to 6 hours then drain the water.
2.Spread a cotton towel and spread the rice evenly and let it dry without any wetness for a while.
3.When dry take it in a mixer jar grind it to a powder in batches.
4.Grind it to the maximum but still you will end up it as a slightly coarse mixture but its ok.
5.Measure 11/2 cups of flour alone and take it a bowl.
6.In-between take powdered jaggery in a pan add water say 1/4 cup and bring to boil when its dissolved filter.
7.To the rice powder add grated coconut and cardamom powder.
8.Add jaggery water to the rice and mix it thoroughly.
9.Mix every thing well add ghee and stir.
10.Now make shapes like pidi kozhukattai.
11.Keep a idli steamer with water place these kozhukattai’s and steam for 10 minutes or till done.
12.Take out and its ready to be served.

Notes
- Rice should be soaked for long so that it cooks well and quickly.
- Instead of jaggery you can use any kind of sugar.
- Sweetness can be increased or decreased according to your need.
- I have added more coconut but you can reduce the amount.
