Combination of dry fruits and toasty coconut chunks makes it more versatile and delicious. You can call it a halwa ,a fudge even as a burfi at last its one wonderful thing that is all sweet. Good part about making this halwa is that only minimal amount of ghee used is all enough to make this dish tasty. I have used freshly grated coconut and toasted it but you can use desiccated coconut. Choice of nuts can be anything you like even some dry grapes can also be added for extra punch. Actually
this dates burfi does not need any flavouring like cardamom or any such thing its all good by itself. Soak dates in warm milk if your dates are little dry and hard. Here my dates were fresh and soft so I made a paste with milk directly. Condensed milk is used to give the exact subtle taste and flavour but even any sugar like jaggery can also be used. Only thing the taste will differ accordingly. Dates when ground are kept chunky but you can make a fine paste and proceed with the recipe. Very simple recipe to make without any fuss and healthy too.Dates is such a valuable nutritional dense ingredient that you should have it frequently in some form or other. INGREDIENTS:
Dates(seeds removed) – 1 cup
Milk – 1/4 cup
Grated coconut – 3/4 cup
Condensed milk – 1/2 cup
Ghee – 2 tbsp
Mixed nuts(cashews,pista,badam) chopped – 1/2 cup
METHOD:
1.First grind dates with milk coarsely and keep ready.
2.Grease a suitable vessel with ghee and keep ready.
3.Then add ghee in a pan add nuts and toast till nicely golden.
4.Then add coconut half way toast them too as well.
5.Add the paste stir for a minute add condensed milk.
6.Keep on mixing till it forms a single lump.
7.Switch off the stove take out in a greased pan make it smooth when cool you can cut and serve.
8.You can make balls out of it and can roll in coconut nut mixture and serve.

Notes
No cardamom powder or any flavouring is needed.
Can make a fine puree of dates I have made it little chunky.
Instead of condensed milk you can use any sugar.
I have not soaked dates because it was already soft.
