vella pidi kozhukattai recipe /sweet pidi kozhukattai

Ingredients
  

  • Iddiyapa maavu/rice flour - 1 cup
  • Jaggery (powdered: - 3/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
  • Grated coconut - 1 cup
  • Water to make kozhukattai - 2 cups
  • Ghee - 2 tsp

Instructions
 

  • Keep a pan with 2cups of water add jaggery to it and let it dissolve.
  • When it dissolves filter it and again bring it to boil.
  • Add grated coconut.
  • When it boils nicely add rice flour with cardamom powder and stir well without lumps.
  • Switch off the stove and stir for few seconds till it forms a mass.
  • Now add ghee and mix it well.
  • Let it sit for some time till it becomes warm.
  • Now you can shape pidi kozhukatti and in-between heat up the idli pan.
  • Place the kozhukattai’s and steam till done, it will become shiny when done.
  • Sweet didi kozhukattai ready.

Notes

Instead of rice flour you can use even millet flour.
Instead of jaggery you can make it with sugar.
The dough stirred should be intact but not sticky so that the end result will be soft and not gooey.
I have added extra coconut as per my taste, you can reduce the amount.
