Amritsari fish fry recipe is a world famous dish with its crispy texture. This Lahori fish fry is double fried to bring that crisp texture. This time after many years of blogging my readers will come to know that I make Non-veg dishes too. Even though I have shared some egg dishes in my space here. Many of you have asked me repeatedly that” why you are not putting non vegetarian recipes”?. To their surprise hereafter I will be blogging non vegetarian dishes to fulfill their wishes. besan and definitely not a pakora for that reason its called as Amritsari fish fry. Here I have used sheer fish It should be boneless for best results. If you get fresh water fish it will be super good. Best side dish (dip)for this is green chutney and I loved this fried fish with a sprinkle of chatmasala for that chat pata taste. Do try this Amritsari fish fry recipe and definetly you are going to love it.

INGREDIENTS:

Bone less strips of vanjiram/sheer fish – 500 gms
Salt as needed
Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
Kasuri methi – 1 tsp
Ajwain/omam – 1 tsp(crush)
Asafoetida/hing – 1/4 tsp
Ginger garlic paste – 2 tbsp
Kashmiri chilli powder – 3 tbsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Chat masala for sprinkling
Besan/bengal gram flour – 2 tbsp
Rice flour – 1 tbsp
Oil to fry

 

METHOD:

1.First clean fish and take in a mixing bowl or a broad plate.
2.Add salt then lemon juice and ginger garlic paste.

3.Put turmeric powder,hing and chillipowder.
4.Crush and add kasurimethi,with some crushed Ajwain.
5.Mix all with light hands so that it gets well coated and let it marinate for 20 minutes.

6.Now add besan and rice flour with little salt needed for flour.
7.Mix it well with regular sprinkling of water so that it coats the fish.

8.Heat oil in a kadai.
9.When its hot add fish pieces fry and take out little early do the same for all the fish batches.
10.Now again add fried fish in batches till it gets nicely crisp.
11.Take out this crispy fish fry in a tissue.
12.Serve hot with green chutney.

Notes

  • I have used sheer fish for this you can use any boneless fish.
  • Usually they make it with fresh water fish.
  • I have added Kashmiri chilli powder if you want it spicy add regular chilli powder.
  • Don’t miss to add ajwain it gives a nice flavour to the fish.
  • Don’t make a floury batter add the given amount so that it lightly coats the fish.
