Tea Kadai Onion Pakoda | Perfect Evening Snack Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • Sliced Onions (tightly packed) - 1 cup /160 gms

    Besan/Bengal gram flour/Kadala maavu - 1 cup / 100gms

    Rice flour /Arisi maavu - 1/4 cup /30 gms

    Salt as per Need

    Oil For Batter - 1 tbsp

    Ginger & Garlic (Crushed) - 2 tbsp

    Green chillies - 2(sliced)

    Few Curry Leaves

    Few Coriander Leaves Chopped

    Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp

    Chilli Powder - 11/2 tsp

    Asafoetida/Hing - 1/2 tsp

    Sombu/Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp

    Oil To fry

Method
 

  1. To a Mixing bowl add thinly sliced onions add needed salt for pakoda mix with pressure.
    2.Then add Turmeric Powder,Chilli Powder, Hing, FennelSeeds, sliced Green chillies,Some Curry leaves,Chopped Coriander & crushed Ginger Garlic Mix every thing.
    3.Add oil & mix Now add Besan & Rice flour mix lightly so that water from onion Coates the mixture well.
    4.Then only sprinkle water little at a time & mix.
    5.The Mixture should be Like sticky but Solid As Shown not loose.
    6.Only mix the dough when you are going to fry don’t mix & keep before Itself.
    7.Heat Kadai with oil When its hot bring the heat to medium Now wet you hands pinch off the dough into the oil.
    8.Let it cook & fry till it become golden & crispy.
    9.Take out in a tissue.
    10.Have it with a hot cup of tea or coffee.

Notes

  • Do not add water initially; onion moisture is enough
  • Always fry on medium heat
  • Mix the batter only just before frying
  • Rice flour is the key for crispiness
  • Wet hands while dropping pakodas
