rajma sundal south indian /red kidney beans recipe

Ingredients
  

To roast and grind:
  • Toor dal/thuvaramparuppu - 2 tsp
  • Urad dal/Ulundhu - 2 tsp
  • Red chillies - 2-3
For tadka:
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Some curry leaves
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Red chillies - 1 broken
  • Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp
  • Boiled rajma beans - 1 cup add salt when boiling beans
  • Grated coconut - 4 tsp

Method
 

  1. Soak rajma beans overnight and boil it nicely with required salt and keep ready.
  2. Dry roast the "to roast and grind" ingredients till golden.
  3. Grind it coarsely and keep ready.
  4. Keep a kadai add oil to heat.
  5. Add mustard to splutter then add hing,curry leaves and chillies.
  6. Add the boiled beans and stir well.
  7. Add only 1 tsp of this powder.
  8. Then mix well.
  9. Add grated coconut and switch off.

Notes

This roasted powder gives nice flavour to the dish.
You can store this podi for future use.
Rajma should be boiled to perfection.
