1.Take bread slices toast them in tava till golden on both sides by adding little oil.2.Then cut them to square chunks and keep ready.3.Heat a kadai with oil and ghee add mustard to splutter.4.Then add curry leaves, onions.5.Let it become golden add in garlic, ginger and green chilli paste and saute.6.When raw smell goes off add spices chillipowder,salt,turmeric powder and garam masala and stir well.7.Now add tomatoes when it become little mushy add water and let it boil.8.Check for salt and add more if needed.9.Let it boil for some time now add chopped bread slices stir well so that all masala gets well coated.10.Sprinkle some coriander leaves and a dollop of ghee switch off.11.Serve hot.
Notes
I prefer to make this Upma with salt bread.
Avoid ghee and add oil alone if you don’t want.
You can toast the bread in a toaster also and proceed with this Upma.
Spices added can be less or more according to your preference.
