shrikhand sweet recipe /Indian sweet dish
Beginning of the year in India is glorified with different names!its gudi padwa in Maharashtra ,Ugadi in Karnataka and Andrapradesh and Cheti chand for Sindhis. As a symbol of victory Maharashtraians raise gudi! a banner like thing with swastika symbol decorated with colorful silk cloth, mango leaves and flowers with an inverted metal pot on it.In south they make ugadhi pachadi which is the first served dish with six tastes reflecting our six emotions we undergo in our every day life.During gudi padwa day Maharashtrians first taste a paste of neem and jaggery combined symbolizing happiness and sadness in life that has to be faced.Top most dishes done during gudi padwa are poran poli, shrikhand with poori. Shrikhand is one of the best sweet festive offerings that are simple to make, but making hung curds takes a little bit of time. The curd should be hung nicely without any water so that we get creamy silky shrikhand.
