Its an unique roasted gram sweet recipe called Mittai thool in kannada done as a traditional sweet among chettiar community. The process of finishing this sweet at the end is crucial which makes it very special. You should keep on stirring even after switching off the stove so that you get a crumbly, lumpy bits. This pottukadalai maavu sweet is done after the wedding the next day as a special dessert. Even beginners can try this as it does not need any sugar consistency. Moreover its an instant sweet which can be done within 15 minutes with no fancy ingredients needed. If you don’t want to make it this way you try to make it as burfi. For that you should note for the burfi consistency
and take out and pour in a greased plate and make slices. Don’t miss adding baking soda its much needed for making this sweet for exact texture. Grated coconut gives nice taste and texture to this excellent dessert. It is usually served with more ghee and banana its very tasty quite different from other sweets you make do try it for sure.

INGREDIENTS;
Roasted gram powder/pottukadalai maavu – 1 cup
Water – 1 cup
Sugar – 1 cup
Cardamom powder – 11/4 tsp
Baking soda – 2 pinches
Coconut grated – 4-5 tbsp
Ghee – 3-4 tbsp
METHOD:
1.Keep a kadai with a cup of water and sugar.
2.Let the sugar dissolve and boil add grated coconut.
3.Let it come to a sticky stage now add potttukadalai powder and whisk without lumps.
4.Add in baking soda mix and cardamom powder.
5.At one stage it will thicken and form a mass add ghee and continue stirring.
6.It will become dry absorbing all the ghee switch off.
7.But continue stirring till it becomes totally lumpy and crumbly.
8.You can serve with more ghee and banana.
