kollu idli recipe /horse gram idli dosa/kulith idli
Despite the fact that horse gram being a powerful lentil it was ignored for a long time as it was considered as a trademark horse-feed. Even now some under-estimate this powerful lentil horse gram. But it’s not like that it was cooked by our ancestors and some traditional recipes are still existing here and there in each region in some form.We in our family have such authentic recipe using this kollu which is still in my routine cooking. They are Kollu paruppu made with sprouted horse gram
which will be great for rice with a good dollop of ghee. Using the water from the cooked kollu we make rasam which will be very simple to make but will be very tasty. Here for this kollu idli recipe I have tried it for the first time and it was very good and spongy like normal idli’s. I have added aval so that the idli will be soft and fluffy. The very same batter if you dilute it with some water you can make nice dosas it will also be very good. Do try this kollu idli recipe for sure and you will definitely like it.
