idiyappam sevai recipe (Lemon sevai)/lemon idiyappamIam already done with idiyappam sevai recipe (basic) in my space and now its time for “lemon sevai” using the basic idiyappam.The Idiyappam recipe that I have shared early in my space is the traditional method using Authentic hand machine squeezer!!done by steaming the rice batter as idli’s and then squeezing it.Lemon sevaiidiyappamYou can check for the “traditional idiyappam recipe” in here before learning about lemon sevai.Whenerver I do this plain idiyappam with sweet paagu(jaggery/bella) I prepare this lemon sevai for the karam!So after having sweet sevai we use to finish it with lemon sevai.You can very well make idiyappam in your own style,using idiyappa mavu/flour and make this lemon sevai and make a simple coconut chutney to have with this idiyappam sevai recipe (Lemon sevai)/lemon idiyappam.

idiyappam sevai recipe (Lemon sevai)/lemon idiyappam

INGREDIENTS:

Make idiyappam and keep ready

Lemon juice – 11/4 tbsp
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves – few (chopped)
Curry leaves – few
Green chillies -2-3 (slit)
Big onions -2(medium size)
Bengal gram dhal – 1/2 tsp
Urad dhal – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Oil – 1 1/4 tbsp(1 tsp for coating sevai)
Coconut grated – 11/2 tbsp(optional)

METHOD:

1.Combine lemon juice,salt and turmeric together.
2.Take the sevai add a tsp of oil and mix so that it coats well.
3.Add the lemon mixture and combine well.
4.Now heat a kadai with oil add mustard seeds and when it splutters add bengal gram and urad dhal to it.
5.After it is golden add onion,green-chillies and curry leaves to it and saute till it becomes translucent.
6.Now add the sevai combine well for 5-7 minutes add coriander leaves,switch off and add grated coconut and serve.

  • Curry leaves - few
  • Green chillies -2-3 slit
  • Big onions -2 medium size
  • Bengal gram dhal - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dhal - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Oil - 1 1/4 tbsp 1 tsp for coating sevai
  • Coconut grated - 11/2 tbsp optional

Instructions

  • Add the lemon mixture and combine well.
  • Now heat a kadai with oil add mustard seeds and when it splutters add bengal gram and urad dhal to it.
  • After it is golden add onion,green-chillies and curry leaves to it and saute till it becomes translucent.
  • Now add the sevai combine well for 5-7 minutes add coriander leaves,switch off and add grated coconut and serve.

Notes

Adding grated coconut is optional you can leave it.
Can very well make a simple coconut chutney to have with this idiyappam sevai.
You can very well make idiyappam in your own style,using idiyappa mavu/flour and keep ready.
