how to cook simple dal /uppu paruppu
Almost all the Indian homes have this mandatory ingredient stocked in their pantry!its split yellow pigeon peas commonly called toor dal(thuvaram parrupu) in India.Every day Indian cooking is never complete without these lentils. In here our community in South India have a customized serving procedures!in any festivals or special functions primary serving(s) of this simple toor dal is a must then other kootu and kulambu varieties are served behind. Here in my place we don’t add tadka(thalipu/tempering)while making this simple dal/uppu paruppu!its as simple as that. The rice should be hot enough to add a dollop of ghee to it and then the dal is added and mixed making it an extreme comfort food.Usually even chillies(green or red) are not added but if you need you can add and its a kids friendly easily digestible soothing diet.Lets now see how to cook this simple dal…

I’m loving this too 🙂 instead of adding garlic, ginger to the tempering, cooking it this way makes it so much easier. I might just try it today! 🙂 tnx for sharing Vani.
shanker
should the dal be soaked for a while before putting it in the cooker?
