Its sizzling summer time and who will say no to refreshing summer drinks with a big bang of healthy punch. This homemade kulukki sarbath recipe is one such famous rejuvenating drink famous in Kerala. The very speciality about this drink is that we use sabja seeds which is basically basil seeds. It has more cooling properties with lots of fibre and thats why it has become a more suitable ingredient for hot summer days to beat the heat. This is the basic recipe and nowadays they make with many variations by
adding some pineapple chunks, even some chopped raw mango or even strawberries, blueberries are added its all up to your imagination.Once when in kochi I have tasted this drink was very refreshing and delicious.The shaking part done to this drink brings the name “kulukki” thus the name itself is very attractive and catchy for it to become this famous. Homemade kulukki sarbath recipe / kerala special lemonade
INGREDIENTS:
Sugar for syrup – 3-4 tbsps
Water for sugar syrup – 1/4 cup
Sabja/basil seeds – 1 tbsp
Finely chopped ginger – 1 tsp
Pinch of salt
Finely chopped green chillies without seeds – 1/2 tsp
Ice cold water as needed
Some ice cubes
Lemon wedges(optional)
Lemon juice – 11/2 tbsp
METHOD:
1.Make sugar syrup by combining sugar and water let it boil till sugar dissolves and cool it and keep.
2.In a bowl add sabja seeds and water and let it bloom for 10 minutes.
3.Keep every ingredient ready.
4.Take a cocktail shaker add the syrup then lemon juice.
5.Add green chillies, salt, bloomed sabja, and needed ice water and shake well.
6.Take a suitable serving glass add some ice cubes and lemon slices pour the sarbath.
7.Have it and enjoy.

Notes
Its a base recipe and from this you can make many flavours.
You can add some pineapple chunks,even some chopped raw mango or even strawberries, blueberries its up to your imagination.
You need not have a shaker put it in a airtight dabba shake well and your sarbath is all ready.
