How to make kerala banana chips/nendran chips

Total Time 25 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • Nendran banana/raw - 2-3 pieces peel off the skin
  • Oil/coconut oil for frying
  • Salt - 13/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Water - 1/4 cup

Instructions
 

  • First peel the skin and keep ready.
  • Mix turmeric powder,salt and water and keep ready.
  • Heat oil in a kadai.
  • Slice raw banana over the oil directly keeping the flame medium.
  • Leave it to fry and when it turns slightly golden sprinkle the turmeric mixture little by little as needed for each batch.
  • When "shhhh" sound is over take it out in a tissue.
  • Then when it is hot transfer to a bowl and add some salt and pepper so that it sticks to chips.This step is purely optional.
  • When cool store in airtight containers.

Notes

In some shops they add more salt and pepper after frying ,but it is purely optional.
If you find this method difficult you can slice separately,add salt turmeric mixture to the slice,leave it for some time and then fry it in oil.
Be careful when adding turmeric mixture!it may splutter.
Slices can be thick or thin according to your liking.
