ellu poorna kozhukattai recipe /sesame seeds modak

Ingredients
  

  • Sesame seeds/karuppu ellu - 3/4 cup
  • Roasted peanuts/verkadalai - 1/4 cup
  • Grated coconut/thengai - 2-3 tbsp
  • Powdered jaggery /vellam - 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp

Instructions
 

  • First dry roast sesame seeds and ground nuts separately.
  • Grind both coarsely after cooling and add the powdered cardamom to it and mix..
  • In-between keep a kadai with jaggery and little water,boil till its dissolved,filter for impurities and bring back it to kadai.
  • Add the ground mixture immediately and stir till well combined.
  • Now add the grated coconut switch off the stove and combine well.
  • Keep this pooranam to cool.
  • I have already posted the kozhukattai maavu recipe and now we can use that,pinch medium balls from it.
  • You can use oil to grease your hands and spread as a circle.
  • Now keep the pooranam inside it and close it to form a round ball.
  • Now heat a idli steamer,grese the plates with oil,place these kozhukattai’s and steam for 3-5 minutes or till done.
  • Kozhukattai is ready to be served.

Notes

Instead of black sesame you can use white ones and do it in the same way.
You can add more coconut if you like I have added it for volume and taste.
Add jaggery according to your taste.
You can make kolukattai even by using readymade or homemade kozhukattai flour.
