best easy scone recipe /eggless dates scones recipe

Ingredients
  

  • All purpose flour/maida - 1 cup
  • Butter ice-cold - 3 tbsp
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Dates - 3-4 chopped
  • Baking powder - 11/2 tsp
  • Castor sugar - 1/8 cup

Instructions
 

  • First grate ice-cold butter in a mixing bowl.
  • Sieve in maida and baking powder into the butter added bowl.
  • Mix with a fork and don’t use hands.
  • It should form a crumbly texture.
  • Now add chopped dates and sugar and mix well.
  • Add milk and mix to form a stick dough.
  • Transfer this to a flour dusted surface,dust flour to top layer and pat with hands.
  • The flattened dough is now ready to be shaped(2 inch thick roundels).
  • Cut shapes with a round cutter.
  • Arrange in a butter paper layered baking plate.
  • Brush the top with some milk.
  • In-between preheat oven at 170 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • Bake for 10—15 minutes or till done.
  • Serve as a tea time snack.

Notes

Depending upon the oven the scones may bake quickly or may be delayed.
Its not needed to knead the dough smooth,light handling is required.
We are brushing the top with milk so that it browns on the top.
You can make this scones as plain without adding dates.
