sweet cheedai recipe (vella seedai)

Ingredients
  

  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • Urad dhal/black gram - 11/4 tsp powder
  • Powdered jaggery - 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
  • White sesame seeds/vellai ellu - 1 tbsp
  • Grated or coconut chunks - 1tbsp
  • Water - 1 cup
  • ghee - 1/2 -3/4 tsp

Instructions
 

  • Add one cup of water and jaggery,bring to boil.
  • When it dissolves filter and let it cool.
  • Sieve Rice flour and take it in a bowl.
  • Fry sesame seeds,coconut scrapping seperately and add to rice flour.
  • Fry urad dhal till golden and grind smoothly and add 11/4 tsp of flour to the bowl mixture.
  • Add butter,cardamom powder to the flour.
  • Now add the jaggery water and make a dough and leave for 10 minutes.
  • Make balls.
  • heat kadai with oil.when it heats up fry seedai at medium flame and when golden switch off take out in a tissue.
  • Store in airtight container.

Notes

If you want you can sieve the powdered urad dhal or if it is a fine powder can leave it as such.
Fry seedai in medium flame or else the insides will not cook properly.
The dough should be neither too hard or loose should be pliable.
For one cup of water one cup of powdered jaggery will be a fit.
